Every year, Antje Heller organizes Russell Terrier Festival, which slowly became THE Russell Terrier event in Europe. Everyone can take part in this event, no matter which club he is member in. The whole atmosphere is very friendly and cosy. Saturday is the fun and info day - with breed introduction, terrier race etc. And on sunday there is the show, which is being judged by the JRTCGB standard. The classes are divided besides age also by height (under and above 30,5 cm) and coat type (smooth & rough). There is also a pet class, hunt class and coloured terrier class. So everyone can find something interesting in this event.
This year there were 174 terriers entered for the show, from many various european countries. Mr. Colin Bright (Foxcombe kennel) was invited as the judge. The quality of the dogs shown was excellent - I have never seen so many beautiful russells in one place before!
I was so happy when my both bitches got (as the only dogs in the whole show - the judge was very strict) an "excellent" and won their classes! And I didn't even dream of what happened later - Queenie became "Best In Show" and Ashley "reserve Best In Show"!
Thanks to Antje and Bernd, that they made it possible for us to spend a few nice days in beautiful environment between so many russell enthusiasts! And also thanks to the whole friendly and hospitable Hamburg-Gang! :))
